2022 Nutcracker Open Audition Pre-Registration

Houston Ballet Academy will be holding an open audition for the 2022 production of Stanton Welch’s The Nutcracker on Sunday, August 28th, 2022. This pre-registration form will close on Thursday August 17th, by 11:59 p.m. CST.
*If your student currently attends Houston Ballet Academy, please do not complete the registration form for the Open Audition. Registration for current HBA students will be emailed to students separately.
Audition Details:
The Audition will take place Sunday, August 28th, 2022 from 11:00AM-12:30PM
Registration/Check - In will open at 10:00 AM. All students will need to check in prior to the audition.
Please be prepared for the possibility of an early or late release.

Houston Ballet Center for Dance, 601 Preston Street 77002
Who can audition:
Male identifying dancers - Ages: 7-14 Height: 5'2'' and under
Female and Non-binary identifying dancers - Ages: 7-14 Height: 4'9'' and under
Requirements:

Current headshot.
Female and non-binary identifying auditionees must currently be enrolled in ballet classes.
Male identifying auditionees must have dance training and/or onstage acting experience.
All auditionees participating in this year’s production of The Nutcracker are required to be fully vaccinated.

Rehearsal/Performance Information:
Rehearsals will commence early-September.
Performance dates: November 25- December 24, 2022 (possible extension to December 27)

Houston Ballet Academy employs the most thoroughly trained instructors for each class and audition. Utmost care will be given to all students. However, Houston Ballet will not be responsible for loss or injury to any student. My child is in excellent physical health and physically able to attend the Academy’s programs.

By submitting this form, I understand and give my consent that this audition will be recorded for referential and archival purposes.

I agree to all COVID -19 Protocols and guidelines set by the Houston Ballet Academy while in rehearsals and performances of "The Nutcracker" . Covid-19 policies at Houston Ballet and the Wortham Theatre continue to evolve. As we look forward to Nutcracker 2022, we we are currently requiring vaccines for all participants who are age-eligible to receive one. We will keep you informed of policy updates.

Photography and Media: Occasionally, students are interviewed by journalists and media crews to promote activities of the Academy and Company. In signing this form, I give permission for an indefinite period of time for my child, (myself if over 18), to be photographed, filmed, and/or interviewed in a Houston Ballet supervised environment for the sole purpose of promotions for the Academy and/or Company.
